A human face emerges from the body of a frog on this colorfully painted mask, typical of those depicting animals and hybrid beings in a blending of the native Nahua and Spanish Colonial cultures of Guerrero, Mexico. Similar to the well-known wooden carved masks, the use of painted copper, tin, or other recycled metals, was started by craftsmen circa 1960-1980. Made of sheet metal, oil-based paint, and hand made chain for display, 7 x 9 ½ x 1 ½ inches, chain is 13 ½ inches long.
