Maneki Neko Lucky Cat

$35.00

Ceramic Japanese Maneki Neko, or Lucky Cat, figurine featuring a Bobtail Calico Cat beckoning visitors to enter a shop or restaurant or other place of business—it is believed to be a symbol of good luck, prosperity or the coming of the good things in life. I like the notion that the gesture of the raised paw is similar to a cat’s using its paw to wash its face which in old superstion portends the arrival of a visitor (or a customer!). This cat is probably from the early 21st century, was also intended to be used as a penny bank, is 12 inches tall x 7 ½ inches wide and 6 ½ inches deep.
