Zuni Pueblo Frog Effigy Pot, circa 1900-1910, this sweet small pot or olla has two clay frogs climbing up opposing sides of the pot, seemingly emerging from the clay, with three dimensional upraised heads and bodies reaching toward the opening of the pot.  The surface of the pot is covered with a pale slip, the frogs and the abstracted floral designs are painted with a red-brown mineral pigment, and the inside of the pot has a warm golden color. The Zuni frog is a symbol of rain, water, fertility and abundance. These pots were made for ceremonial use and also for sale, the vessel measures 6 inches wide from frog head to frog head, the bowl is 4 ¼ inches wide and 3 ¼ inches high.
