Our Lady of Montserrate by Florencio Caban Hernandez (1876-1952), renowned Puerto Rican Santero; this is a beautiful cedar wood carving of a crowned Our Lady of Montserrate, (popular in Puerto Rico) who is solidly seated and presents the Christ Child in her lap. She is painted with a red robe with gold markings and a very dark blue cape. The expressions of both figures are serene, her hands (which may have been replaced at some time) and the Child’s hands are held out before them, 4 inches wide, 8 inches tall, and 3 ¼ inches deep.
